Evosport Inc. Releases Highly Anticipated Dry Carbon DTM Wing For Mercedes CLK
Evosport’s new full dry carbon rear wing for the CLK adds function and aesthetics in a package weighing under 3-pounds.
To complement the success of their performance product enhancements for the Mercedes-Benz CLK63 AMG Black Series, Evosport Inc. announced the release of their much anticipated dry carbon fiber DTM rear wing for the car.
Based initially on the design of the factory Mercedes-Benz wing standard on the now out-of-production Euro W209 CLK DTM AMG street car, the Evosport wing is the perfect upgrade for the consumer who desires more aggressive styling and function while maintaining a factory look. Unlike the factory CLK DTM AMG wing, however, which was constructed of fiberglass, the Evosport wing is made of lightweight, ultra-strong carbon fiber. The wing, which is mounted on the boot lid thus eliminating the subtle factory boot lid spoiler, is offered with a carbon fiber weave to match that of the factory exterior carbon fiber components of the CLK63 AMG Black Series. Since members of the CLK-Class share the same boot lid design, the wing can also be fitted on all W209 CLK coupe or cabriolet models.
The cambered airfoil wing element sits 6.25″ (158.75mm) above the boot lid at its highest point and incorporates integrated end plates and vertical uprights. There is minimal obstruction of the rear view from the driver seat with the wing installed. In addition, the boot lid can be fully opened without the wing assembly making contact with any part of the vehicle. Construction of the wing utilizes a pre-impregnated dry carbon fiber process for exceptional quality and superior strength. The use of carbon fiber also allows for an incredibly lightweight overall wing design that weighs less than 3-lbs. The entire wing is elegantly finished in either a gloss or matte clear coat to be immediately fitted to the vehicle. Should the customer desire, it can be easily painted (fully or partially) for a more unique appearance.
Evosport plans to introduce a similar wing design for other Mercedes-Benz models in the near future.
